Bio

THE MOJO AFFAIR is a band whose aim is to redirect the current popular music trends back to the standards of decades past...with an eclectic twist. The group is the baby of MS. MAESTRO and was delivered from an inspired musical rebirth. She took a desire to revert back to the days of meaningful lyrical content, the featured soloist, and the timeless melody, gathered some friends who shared the same vision, and then, collaboratively, created the debut album, SECRETS. At the core of the unique band is its invaluable roster and rare combination of top quality musicians who exploit every aspect of their talents to demonstrate what they call..." Retro-Acoustic Soul". Ms. Maestro also takes her songs on the road with an acoustic set delivering her personal songs in the rawest form with subject matters ranging from "dillusional love" to "bill collectors" to "life"...the band calls the sound ..........'the cure for the status quo'

about MS. MAESTRO:

... AKA Kenya Tillery is a composer who has once again reinvented herself. Deemed one of FILMMAKER MAGAZINE'S “25 New Faces of Independent Film” and featured by ASCAP's "Playback" magazine with the title 'Composer with Class', Kenya Tillery's life in music extends from her classical composition study to her creative endeavors in the world of film and television music to now the craft of songwriting. She prepared herself for this life by attending several universities, earning a Master of Music in film music composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts. Her professional experience is wide and varied. It includes work with Mike Post in Burbank as a BMI PETE CARPENTAR FELLOWSHIP recipient, participation in Utah at the SUNDANCE COMPOSERS LAB, and conducting original music at 20th Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles in the ASCAP FILM-SCORING WORKSHOP. Ms. Tillery's film and television credentials include collaboration with such directors as REGGE LIFE (A Different World, The Cosby Show) and B. MARK SEABROOKS(The Steve Harvey Show). Kenya Tillery composed the score and sound design for The Juilliard School theatrical production of LAURENCE FISHBURNE'S "Riff Raff", and was hired shortly after by NISSAN to demonstrate her versatility in writing for commercial ads. Her classical composition for flute and piano, "Simple Things", is available on Albany Records, and in Spring 2008, her 1993 choral piece based on the poetry of African-American poet Fenton Johnson, entitled "When I Die", will once again be performed in the North Carolina All-State Choral Festival. In addition, Kenya Tillery’s original theme music can be heard every weekday morning on LIFETIME TELEVISION. Currently, Ms. Tillery writes and produces the songs for her band, The MoJo Affair and will attend The 2007 Los Angeles Music Awards after receiving a nomination for “Best Pop Artist”. Finally, she was also recently honored at an event sponsored by her undergraduate university, East Carolina University, as one of their "100 Incredible Women", part of their first centinnial celebration.
