Bio

The Monas are best known for their top ten hit singles "Cae La Noche" and "Tu" on the U.S. Latin Alternative Charts.

Felipe (vocals/guitar), Juan (drums), Nando (guitar) and Francisco (bass) hail from Barranquilla, Colombia and live in Miami, FL.

The Monas were signed to Watts Up! / Codiscos records in 2006 and their self-titled debut album was released later that year. After the album came out, the band embarked on a North American tour that included stops in New York City, Washington D.C, Los Angeles, Miami, Austin, Baltimore and Charlotte among other cities.

The tour was a turning point for the band as they got to bring their high energy shows to a wide range audience in atypical markets for latin artists. The album and tour had a great reception and the experience helped further develop the band's unique sound of classic rock and latin infused sounds.

The Monas performed at the 2006 Billboard Latin Conference Showcase, winning an award for Best New Artist. They were later invited to perform at the Latin Grammy Street party in Los Angeles on October 22, 2006. Furthermore, they were the first rock band from Colombia to perform at the famed SXSW Festival in Austin, TX in April 2007.

The Monas received extensive media coverage including an editorial on Billboard Magazine, an album review of 3 ½ stars from Rolling Stone, also featured on Spin, as well Revista Soho, Gatopardo and Don Juan where they made the 100 personalities of the year in 2008.

Colombian leading newspaper, El Tiempo, named The Monas the breakthrough artist of 2007.
The video for The Monas first single “Cae La Noche” received extensive airplay in all the major music T.V channels including MTV, Mun2 and HTV.

After a couple of years of writing and experimenting with new sounds, The Monas teamed up with super producer Carlos Bedoya of Mick Jagger, Weezer, Missy Elliot and Beyonce fame to work on new material. The sessions translated into 12 new tracks that comprise what is “Animal” their sophomore album to be released in 2012.
