"In their own words: The Moonlight Orchestra"

Hey all, I spoke with Vivian with The Moonlight Orchestra, and this is what Vivian had to say. Enjoy!

The Moonlight Orchestra is a fresh band from San Francisco currently in the process of mastering their debut EP. They formed in September 2008 with the drive to "just play" and pacify the innate passion for making music. These young new comers are seeking more shows to perform in and around SF and would be delighted to take part and ease their way in and introduce themselves to you and the San Francisco music scene with an open mind, collective ear and appreciation for their comrades in the arts.

After drawing a huge crowd as first timers at SF Club, El Rincon for a free show in December 2008, they were invited back to headline their own event called ZOOPARTY on a Friday (3/6/09). ZOOPARTY proved to be a success and were asked to arrange a second installment and make it a periodic resident event that will be featuring local up and coming Bay Area musicians. They have played with local talents like the The La las, Keenan Hemje, Andre Cruz, The American Standard and The Soft White Sixties. They'll also be performing on June 23rd at Cafe du Nord with Ambience and David Knight.

"The Moonlight Orchestra"

The Moonlight Orchestra play a headlining set amongst a plethora of bands performing at Great American Music Hall this evening. Check out their MySpace for some humblingly honest vocal stylings amongst well orchestrated instruments and thought out structure. Under the Stars is a personal favorite and I think the one that could break the charts for the band. Brothers Mehdi and Hadi obviously have talent, and something worth seeking out here. "The Moonlight Orchestra"

This band just keeps getting better and better, and they've got the gig list in 2009 to prove it, playing all the hot spots on some great sound systems. Tonight will be no different as The Moonlight Orchestra take stage for the headlining performance at Bottom of the Hill. Oh, how we love this venue, tucked away in Potrero Hill to keep out the riff raff, with a kitchen staying open til late, and all ages events like this one! Moonlight Orchestra are having a CD release party, as are Montana 1948 tonight. Young upstarts Blue Rabbit kick things off, with Uncle Harvin Sethi providing MC / comedic duties throughout the evening. Fun! (Kuze)

Bio

The Moonlight Orchestra orbits around a multifaceted array of musical influences that spring from a blues inferno within a psychedelic cascade and on to the chaotic senses of experimentalism and a bit of frenzy. Their music doesn't fit a mold or heed itself to any convention but of their own that reflects a homage to their colorful musical backgrounds.

Emotional, explosive and with music making all over the place, their sound will have you revel in doses of surprise that will take you through a journey of well thought out composition and a sense of simplicity backed by strong song writing.
