"Moonzie Allstars"

‘The Moonzie Allstars…pipes and whistle hooks and tunes bouncing over West African, Arabic, Cuban and Ska rhythms and grooves. Sounds like they’ll go down a treat.’. Mary Ann Kennedy - BBC Radio Scotland Global Gathering

Bio

The Moonzie Allstars are based in Fife where they have just recorded and released their debut album “Hypnagogic”. The band performs an energetic mix of rogue folk, blues and rock; centred on bagpipe and whistle tunes and interwoven with West African, Arabic, Cuban, and Ska rhythms with a sound that you can’t help but dance to.

The Moonzie Allstars are David Adam on Pipes & Flutes, Graham Dickson on Bass & Guitar, Geoff Stevenson on Vocals, Guitar & Bouzouki and Johnny Beaver on Percussion & Drums.

It’s hard to describe this band but their sets have been likened to Moving Hearts and Afro-Celts. The band were one of the highlights at the Isle of Eigg anniversary festival 2010 and are fast gaining a reputation for inventive music and exciting live shows. Previous gigs include the Big Tent Festival, Traquair Fair, Yellow on the Broom, and The Ronneby Folk Fest in Sweden.

“It is impossible to watch this band live and not want to dance, join in and find out where they are playing next.”

The Big Tent Festival, Falkland write-up 2009

“The Moonzie Allstars' fiery Afro-Celt fusion will have the place jumping with their inventive music, great playing and audience rapport.”

Brechin Advertiser April 27th 2010

“There was quite a squeeze on the dance floor during the lively set.
The music has moved on to another level “
