The Moor Rose

Ever heard bouzouki and cello together? How about an epic cello solo in a Blues-infused song or a Moorish-influenced instrumental? Crafted, nuanced and distinct in its fusing of musical styles, Stuart and David from The Moor Rose create something special when they play together.

Stuart is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bouzouki, flute, percussion), songwriter and vocalist. Being a self-taught musician (“un-classically untrained”, he muses), his intuitive & improvisational style creates uniquely soulful music & powerful music for the soul. Whether performing as a solo artist, in the duo The Moor Rose, as a session musician, he is acclaimed for the warmth and richness of his music.

Some of Stuart’s performance highlights include the Garden Of Unearthly Delights 2011, Harmonic Project with Heather Frahn, sold out Adelaide Fringe 2010 show “Ekata: Music, Voice, Dance” with Sacred Tribe Dancers, Tour Down Under and WOMADelaide in 2007 with South African performer Nigel “Snow Cloud” Martin.

David, a classically-trained cellist and bass player, recognisable for his unruly hair, has a passion for music and a repertoire spanning over three decades of eclectic performances.

From hauntingly beautiful improvisations to session work with established artists, David’s incredible “feel” for the groove takes the listener on a journey of discovery. Festival appearances, such as the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Adelaide Fringe and the Bangalow Fatherhood Festival, continue to provide an outlet for David’s musical exploration, along with the opportunity to support musicians such as Tex Perkins, Jeff Lang and Damien Leith.
