Bio

There have been very few acts that have managed to literally set the musical world on fire in a chaotic manner. Names such as The Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream, The Psychedelic Furs, The Pixies & My Bloody Valentine all fall into this category.

Bands such as these have both created & inspired discordant melodies that have captured the collective ears of an international community. For this reason, we are extremely proud to present the very haunting, the very dark and light, & the very chaotic & mysterious pop world of the morning after girls.

the morning after girls started playing in & around Melbourne, Australia almost two years ago, rolling out their unique brand of psychedelic, Velvet-Underground-meets-21st-Century-dissillusionment. And since then everyone from the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Black Keys & The Brian Jonestown Massacre found the wisdom to invite the band to share the stage.

Much has happened since the first EP release. Founding members Sacha Lucashenko and Martin B. Sleeman relocated to Sydney, with a new line-up combining the talents with like-minded friends; Aimee Nash (voice / guitars / keyboards / percussion), Scott Von Ryper (bass / voice / keyboards) & Anton Jakovljevic (percussion).

As word spread overseas, the morning after girls started receiving offers to come and play in the US, UK and Japan. In March 2005 they headed over to the USA to perform at the internationally coveted SXSW Music Conference & five select dates. What ensued when they landed were offers to play all over the country, playing 11 shows instead of the five, with media touting them as “the best damn band from OZ or anywhere for that matter to hit NYC in 2005 (yes, Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs included)” (Jenkny.com).

Finding new friends and fans all over the country, praise and support for the morning after girls has been noted from members of such bands as The Warlocks, The Ravonettes, The Dandy Warhols, & The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

With the local release of their second EP, the morning after girls 2, the morning after girls are here to set the world on fire, bringing their unique take on psychedelia to the world.
