"The Morning Sea's release party on 05.15 at Pianos"

The Morning Sea, a softly moving, seductive chamber-pop folk collective rotating about singer songwriter Adam Cohen, is poised to travel the world from their bathtub. Looking like a mermaid (minus the coconut bra) lost in the middle of a his tub on the cover of new record 'Strange Captive,' Cohen is one-half confessional late night crooner ('Mellow Rage'), and one-half whimsical wanderer, as in the brawling rock of 'Bit My Tongue.' The music tells slowly developing stories, of lands traveled, and seas swam, no matter how difficult the journey. Especially on the fun abandon of title track 'Strange Captive,' where Adam hopefully sings 'there is still time to face the light.' And there's still time to see The Morning Sea when the band releases their 7-track 'Strange Captive' at Pianos on Thu, May 15th. See them then and check out 'Strange Captive' below. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets) - The Deli Magazine

Bio

The Morning Sea is a rock 'n roll band based out of NYC. Centered around the songs of lead vocalist and guitarist Adam Cohen, their sound can best be described as a sort of Gotham Americana: music steeped in the traditions of 20th century rock, blues, and folk, but wrapped in a more gritty NYC sensibility. Their debut EP, "Strange Captive", was released in May 2014. What first began as a project between singer/songwriter Adam Cohen and producer Tony Long has quickly evolved into an electrifying group collaboration. Since forming in early 2014, the band has played shows at a number of illustrious NYC venues, including: Pianos, Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bowery Electric, Cameo Gallery, The Grand Victory, Pete's Candy Store, Cake Shop, Arlene's Grocery, Matchless, The Rock Shop, The Pine Box, Spike Hill, Radio Bushwick, and The Way Station. They were nominated for NYC artist of the month in May 2014 by The Deli Magazine.
