The Morose Project

A live electronic band formed in early 2010 by Samuel Barba (guitar and vocals), Tarek Nasr (synthesizer and engineering) and Wesley Boothe (drums and percussion). Morose intends to give birth to a new sound and experience, by combining live instrumentation with an electronic minimalist structure. Their many influences include Trentemoller, The Smiths, Broadcast, and The Pet Shop Boys.

Tarek and Wesley are like-minded djs who have established themselves in the Los Angeles and Orange County electronic scene over the past 5 years playing residencies and weeklys at Avalon, Florentine Gardens and Detroit Bar to name a few. Additionally, all members have played in a slew of different bands from an early age and a few different experimental projects of their own. Tired of the local electronic scene they came together to form The Morose Project, to create something new.

The Morose Project released a self-titled EP at the end of this past year and has performed twice at the Avalon in Hollywood as The Project, the dj side of the same outfit, alongside Claude VonStroke, Etienne De Crecy, Dirty South and Riva Star to promote the release. KCRW has praised their self-titled EP as #7 of their favorite EP’s in 2010 on their blog and #37 on their list of most played albums of 2010. A debut album is scheduled to be released early 2012.
