"The Morra"

The Morra is an alternative, rock band from Scotland. The Morra is a band that produces solid rock without abandoning creativity. In many ways the sound is different from what you might consider pure rock, but this act understands what it means to roll. Sonically they are willing to play with abandon at times, which makes them all the more fantastic to listen to. With drums that do more than just keep the beat, and guitars that pull the ear forward, the bass is aloud to make a statement. Their creative side sounds like very early new wave with intense overlaying of sound, but the attitude is defiantly hard rock. Their songs are best if played loud, but they don't loose their impact if they are held at a comfortable listening level. The highest compliment to give any creator in any medium is that they are honest. The Morra is as honest as a four member band can be. They are a rock gem that should be discovered as soon as possible.

Songs I like are "Sex is a Weapon," and "The Empty Plate." You can check them out at their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/themorraband - Paul Ruth independent music scene

"Jana Peri, Frances and her Trampoline, The Morra, Mondegreen, Keen Affection live at Pivo Pivo, Glasgow"

A change of pace next as four good men and strong going by the name of The Morra launch into their set. Cascading guitars and yelping vocals suggested they had done a bit of research into Scotland's musical past when honing their sound. Perhaps a bit untidy in the execution of their songs, they nonetheless demonstrated an impressive amount of enthusiasm. - Bluesbunny Independent Reviews Taur Productions

"Jana Peri"

"The next band up are touting themselves about as The Morra, and I can only assume this is until they can find themselves a real band name, but regardless of having one of the worst names going they are actually a shit hot band. The impression that I got was that they would probably all have been indie kids a few years ago and then someone bought a 13th Floor Elevators album and they never looked back. (Don’t expect any jugs though.) They are gifted guys and while I’ll admit to being clueless as to who they would appeal to I don’t really care as I liked them." (ffrukit gig review) - 2009 FFRUKiT!
