The Moxies

With no plans or expectations or preconceived notions as to what the songs would sound like The Moxies began writing in December of 2005. Each member’s musical background could not have been more diverse. Despite early fears that all of this would result in a train wreck, it became clear early on that the music benefitted from each individual’s own unique perspective and their mutual respect and admiration for each other.

The Moxies sound is stripped down to the essentials and features strong vocal performances backed by melodic guitars and a pounding rhythm. Feedback from audiences so far has been extremely positive. Comparisons have been made to such bands as The Pretenders, Blondie, PJ Harvey, Morrissey and Sleater Kinney to name just a few.

So far, the band has played such venues as The Kentucky Theater, The Dame and The High Life Lounge and are currently in the process of booking appearances in Louisville and Cincinnati in the coming year. The Moxies have also had the pleasure of opening for several well established bands in the region. These bands include Warner Brothers recording artists Bang, Bang, Bang, Petticoat Petticoat, The October and Lance Whelan.

In early 2007, The Moxies will begin work on their debut album. The band plans to record at St. Claire Recording company with Tim Price at the helm and The Moxies co-producing. In addition to working on their album, The Moxies plan to continue playing shows in the region and meeting as many nice folks as possible in the process.
