The MuerTones

From the Montauk Monster to the Stronsay Beast many strange and terrible things have been deposited on our shores from the vast expanse of the ocean deep. But nothing could prepare the residents of Los Angeles for the day the seas would give way and release upon dry land The MuerTones, the newest surf rock sensations to tear their way from the waves through the land with their high energy take on the classic genre. While perhaps not a case for cryptozoology, The MuerTones nevertheless exist in a class all by themselves. The result of a near life long cultivation of musical admiration between master bassist Alfred Montez and guitarist extraordinaire Jose "Chato" Cortez, The MuerTones have quickly carved a niche for themselves since unleashing their energetic yet traditional surf instrumentals. With Alex Helbig holding down the drums, the trio’s music harkens back to an era of beach parties and never ending summers, but with a modern aggressive, yet slight, twist. Heavily influenced by such legends as The Ventures and Dick Dale, The Muertones have been wowing audiences all around Southern California, most notably headlining the highly successful 2009 Los Angeles Craft Beer Festival.
