The best kept secret in music

"The Hartford Advocate"

"... as subtle as a brick going through a pane of glass." - Thomas Pizzola

"Hartford Advocate"

"The Mugshot Militia sounded massive and received the best crowd response of the evening as a pit formed halfway through their set… They were comfortable and confident on the big stage." - Thomas Pizzola

"Take five maniacs, add some instruments, throw in a wide range of influences and mix it with a healthy dose of talent... The result of this concoction is a... band who [is] able to find a unique groove... not afraid to push the boundaries and challenge the limits of the heavy genre of music." - Mr G-Man

Misery - 2002

Feeling a bit camera shy

In 2001, a band called Mugshot was working on a four-song demo in the studios of Bullyrag member John Robinson. Mugshot's lead singer, Darren Galpin, heard Bullyrag performing and thought their two guitarists; Robinson and Eric Vitolo were what Mugshot was missing.
Galpin made a proposal to Robinson that the two should join forces, and six weeks later, The Mugshot Militia, a hybrid of Bullyrag's guitars and Mugshot's rhythm section and vocalist, had constructed a new studio, recorded a full length CD, and forever changed the face of original music in Fairfield County.
Blending influences from the likes of Tool, Soulfly, Pantera, Mudvayne, Sepultura and others, The Militia deliver a unique combination of melody and hard-core that will lure you in with soulful lyrics and melodic riffs, then grab you by the collar and smash your face with raw power. Those who witness the carnage wrought by a Mugshot show remain forever changed.
The Militia has played in Times Square, the Empress Ballroom, Toad's Place, the Webster Theatre, New York City's Pussycat Lounge, etc.
They've played with the likes of Base2, Nothing Star, Superkid, 25 to Life, Gargantua Soul, opened for Kittie at Toad's Place in New Haven CT, and most recently preceded Staind's Sept 26 show at the Webster Theater with a set in the Underground.
Mugshot is currently working on their 2nd full length CD, to be released in Spring of 2004.
