What began as an experiment between two songwriters in the summer of 2006 has quickly grown into one of the fastest musical phenomenons in Atlanta’s melting pot of music. It all began when Donovan Cox began producing a wide array of several local artists in different genres: acoustic, industrial, shoegazer, indie, folk, pop, etc. This caught the ear of singer/songwriter John Stanek who was also looking to stretch the boundaries after releasing several independent records.
Not only were Donovan and John bored with the confines of traditional radio format rock, but they both shared an enthusiasm for experimentation. This passion worked as a catalyst to create a fresh sound, singular to them, while retaining their inherent sense of melody and structure. Many months of intense song-writing sessions ensued, and after nearly a year of writing over 40 songs together, they have created some of the most compelling avant-garde hard rock of this decade.
