Biography

The Musettes are a female folk/pop trio hailing from Ottawa Ontario. These young women forged a friendship in the practice rooms of Canterbury High School, where all three graduated from the Vocal Arts Program. In 2010, the group received the Galaxie Rising Stars Award and secured a spot playing at the Ottawa Folk Festival. Meaghan also performed with Craig Cardiff and was later invited to record fiddle tracks on his most recent Juno-nominated album, Floods & Fires.
The group was selected to participate in the Youth Showcase at the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals this year and received mentorship throughout the conference from Sue Passmore of the Juno award-winning trio, The Good Lovelies. The group also performed on stage with Sue during their showcase.
In August the group performed at the Blue Skies Music Festival and made a guest appearance alongside Juno-nominated Annabelle Chvostek, former member of The Wailin Jenny's. In February 2013, the group were featured as guest performers with Serena Ryder during her concert in Ottawa, after winning the highly anticipated "Sing with Serena" competition.

Currently, their newest singles are played on CBC Radio 1, and they will be embarking on an Ontario tour in summer 2013.

Part of Your World

Written By: Rachel Harrison

Saw  you today and I said: “Hi”, and then you smiled and walked on by
I should be used to you being so shy and I don’t know why, but still I try
To get you to say something, to do anything, but I try in vain
You’re not getting my subtle hints or my obvious clues so I’ll just tell you straight…because:

I don’t wanna hold you down, I just wanna hold you
I don’t wanna spin you round, I just wanna go for a ride with you
I don’t wanna be your baby but I could be your girl
I’m not asking for the universe, I just wanna be a part of your world

I didn’t mean to surprise you, didn’t realize you didn’t know
Cause there were times when I felt something, I got that feeling that we both …you know
But sometimes I can invent moments that were just moments and nothing more
But if you feel the same way I do, I don’t see why you have to be so unsure….because!

I don’t wanna hold you down, I just wanna hold you
I don’t wanna spin you round, I just wanna go for a ride with you
I don’t wanna be your baby but I could be your girl
I’m not asking for the universe, I just wanna be a part of your world

Goodnight

Written By: Laura Inostroza

Goodnight, I hope your sleep tonight
keeps you safe and warm
Cause I’m already gone,
And you’d better face the facts,
I’m not coming back
Into your arms.

Goodbye, hold your pillow tight,
I hope it keeps you warm
Cause I’m already gone
And it doesn’t feel the same
In this crazy game
Where no-one’s keeping score.

And oh, you feel so low
Cause you’re not man enough to try
And you can stop me from saying goodbye.

Goodbye, hope your dreams tonight
They keep you safe and warm
Cause I’m already gone
And when the morning comes,
I hope you see the sun
And you don’t feel so alone;

You left me feeling alone,
So I’m not coming home.

Two AM

Written By: Rachel Harrison

I’m lying awake, thinking of all the things I should be doing
The clock on the wall has been stuck for days and it just don’t feel like moving
And I don’t think that anything is gonna help me fall asleep tonight

And now I wonder if I’ll feel the same one week from now
I’ve been worse, I could be better, but I don’t know better anyhow
And I don’t think that anything is gonna help me fall asleep tonight

You know that I don’t like this thinking, overanalyzing everything I do
But I know that all of this wondering is not gonna stop anytime soon
And I don’t think that anything is ever gonna feel the same again

I close my eyes and all I see are the back of my eyelids
If we all feel this way, then I can’t see how everyone can hide it
And I don’t think that anything is gonna help me fall asleep tonight

You know that I don’t like this thinking, overanalyzing everything I do
But I know that all of this wondering is not gonna stop anytime soon
And I don’t think that anything is ever gonna feel the same again

September

Written By: Rachel Harrison

September

And so another summer’s gone
You pack your bags and carry on
I can’t figure out why I’m still here
And why that feels so wrong

It’s true, my progress has stalled
I’m here again for one more fall
I can’t figure out why I cannot move
And why you haven’t called

And so I sit here and wait
Hoping you will take the bait
And if you don’t, I hope we meet again
But I’ll leave that up to fate
(And while I sit here I sing)

Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah
Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah

And now the leaves are turning red
Yes, I can see them from my bed
The world is changing colours but I stay the same
Is there something wrong with that?

But still, I wonder where you are
And if you’re still playing your guitar
And then sometimes I wonder if you’re thinking of me
But I doubt that you are
(So I am still singing)

Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah
Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah

I am my own rock, I am my own rock, I am my own rock
I am my own rock, I am my own rock, I am my own rock
I am my own rock, I am my own rock, I am my own rock
I am my own rock, I am my own rock, I am my own rock
(And I sing)

Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah
Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah

Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah
Hey yeah, hey yeah, hey yeah
