Wi.sh has a very classical taste and it is exemplified through his new tape “Classic Taste”. Rhyming over some of the best beats in the 90′s while also capturing audio of the artist as they speak about fame, and having fans. You name it and it was probably included in this tape. Beats aside Wi.sh’ lyrics were hot and on point. Peep this nostalgic tape.” - Street Khemistry (Mar 01, 2014) [ - StreetKhemistry.com
With so many different avenues to approach within the culture, Wi.Sh is a versatile artist that seeks to promote a unified front through balancing multiple styles. In creating his music, he reflects his own personal search for balance—in his life, in his heart, and in his mind. He considers himself to be a reader, writer, and poet, one raised by Hip-Hop. The American diaspora—and all of its complications and challenges—is something he loves. He buys into the notion that we can all better ourselves through our music, something he strives for with every recording...
In projecting a persona that has a sleek style while simultaneously discussing traveling, reading and being an intellectual, Wi.Sh says he “hopes to make learning more attractive, not just some boring, passive thing that happens to you by accident.” By being himself, he hopes to make others realize that they can be themselves and not have to succumb to the societal norms enforced unto them. Be Greater Than, but Equal Too. Perhaps he said it best, “I appreciate the recognition, tell ‘em hope, peace and love, that’s the new tradition.” - Seersucker Magazine
Wi.Sh has released his debut original hip-hop mixtape “Milk & Honey." The 16 track project, presentedby Coast 2 Coast Mixtape Promotion, is now available for download. Since Wi.Sh made the decision to focus on music, he has released several projects to date. He is known by fans for making music that is insightful with quick witted lyricism. Along with promoting his music, Wi.Sh also promotes his brand “Greater Than, but Equal too.” - Ashton Lynne, PRWeb.com
Wi.Sh is an emcee from Philadelphia, PA. After growing up in several cities, he played football in high school and graduated from Morehouse College on an academic scholarship. He published a book of poetry called Almost A Poet studied in Ecuador while playing basketball for P.U.C.E. University. He worked at ESPN and was a public school teacher before pursuing a career in music. Check out Wi.Sh’s 2014 mixtape, Classic Ta$Te, recorded by Mike Jerz. - Bryan Scheiner, The Bee Shine
Philadelphia, as stated by many, is full of stars, if only given the chance to shine. The spotlight was placed back on the city when Meek Mill and Tone Trump were signed. Several veterans, including Beanie Sigel, Cassidy, and Freeway were able to revive their careers through this emergence. A number of independent artists also managed to rise to the forefront. Trel Mack enjoyed this and now, so has Wi.Sh. A few weeks ago, Wi.Sh released his debut mixtape, Milk & Honey. The mixtape features appearances from Problem, Pill, and Young Chris, among many others. - Hip Hop Vibe
Must-listen new track by Philadelphia-based rapper WiSh. Before hearing this song, I was unfamiliar with this rapper, but boy am I glad that I got the chance to hear this track. WiSh delivers nasty lyricism and flow on three consecutive verses, while Ground Up rapper Molotov spits the chorus. The head-nodding beat is produced by Bij Lincs, part of the trio that is the aforementioned Ground Up.
WiSh is quite the story. Not only has he lived in all time zones in the United States, he graduated from Morehouse College in 2009 on a full academic scholarship. During his time at the school, WiSh (Winston Shaw) published a book of poetry titled Almost a Poet (See the book on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Almost-Poet-T-Winston-Shaw/dp/0978954114). Shaw spent time working in marketing for ESPN, and subsequently decided to pursue a career in music. Great choice. This dude can really rap, and judging by his features on his upcoming mixtape Milk & Honey (Young Chris, 2010 XXL Freshman PILL), he may be in store to gain a large following.
I love seeing artists with the type of story and come-up like WiSh’s. Real smart, intellectual rapper. Download Milk & Honey on December 7th.
Favorite line: “Okay now can’t a young n**** talk reckless? Sinatra in his prime can’t a n**** talk sexist? Styrofoam cup in the bubble eye Lexus, on my way to Cali if I ever make it out of Texas.” - The Incomplete Circle
Very few new emerging artists of today make an impact in the music world. There are a selective numbers of aspiring emcees that can hold stand next to some of Hip-Hop’s veterans but California native, Wi.Sh proves he has what it takes to be one of the next rapper[s] to bring back substance to rap. He recently released his mixtape, Wi.ShList: Volume 1 via his website. Check out his first video, “Guerrilla Warfare." - MusicXclusives
