Bio
The members of the names that spell originally met in their high school jazz program in 2001. They performed jazz standards for several years under the wings of gigging jazz musicians from around the midwest. Around the same time, they began writing rock n roll songs with improvisational tendencies. The songs, played under the monikers "minkus rerun" and "beguile, beguile, my love!," were far from the standard fare of psychedelic jams. Often incorporating complex meters and polyrhythms, those first songs were the foundation for the philosophy of the names that spell- to groove no matter what the time signature is. Prior to forming The Names That Spell, the musicians had recorded over 100 pieces of music, & all of them are rare and unreleased tracks,. The bands own label, 'the names that spell records,' is planning on releasing the entire discography online in the summer of 2009...
