The Nematoads - original surf-rock with a trippy Austin vibe... straddling the line between '60's retro cool and nerdy gnarly rock.
Who are these guys? Guitarist Ted James, the man with two first names, takes his surf guitar seriously. But Ted and the Nematoads are not about merely echoing the past. Ted's guitar playing blends the classic sounds of the Ventures and Davie Allan & the Arrows with the surf-punk of the Dead Kennedys, the twangy madness of Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, and the sonic attack of the Pixies. Of course, we can't forget our Texas roots!
The Nematoads rhythm section features bassist Michael Tarsha and drummer George Pestana. George commands the drum kit and draws from all of the greats. Think of him as the only man who could play both a Metallica and Rolling Stones gig in the same night. Michael brings a strong sense of groove and fills by mixing rock, R8B, and jazz with the world of surf music.
In a world filled with insanity and greed and cool people wearing too much eye shadow, the Nematoads are the sound of The Third Coast, the vibe of the street with a five-o'clock club beat.
