"Ex-Coro star's sexy cameo lifts Kiwi band's profile in UK"

Three Auckland siblings have made a splash in Britain after using a former Coronation Street actress in their music video Gorgeous Baby.

Volita, Moss and Gabriel Bioletti featured 22-year-old British television star and model Helen Flanagan in the clip for the song they wrote as indie rock band The Neo-Kalashnikovs.

According to the UK's Daily Mail newspaper, the group wanted Flanagan, who played Rosie Webster on the soap, in the video because she inspired the track.

MTV UK said the band approached Flanagan because one of the brothers had a crush on her and on their Facebook page "The Neo's" as they refer to themselves call her their "muse".

The four-minute video features a barely-clad Flanagan lip-syncing the lyrics while drinking and smoking in provocative poses.

Flanagan reportedly said she loved the song and "had to be in it" when she found out she was the inspiration behind it. Initially the British press speculated she was making a bid for pop stardom. The Neo-Kalashnikovs formed in 2007 with older sister Volita as lead singer, songwriter and guitarist, middle brother Moss on drums and youngest brother Gabriel joining on keyboards and bass in 2011.

The trio are based in Los Angeles but returned to Auckland recently with the release of their debut album She's On Heat. Fans lobbied Radio Hauraki to play their latest single Turn the Tables.

The band credits Nirvana, The Black Keys and Smashing Pumpkins among its influences. - The Herald (Biggest Paper in New Zealand)

"Helen Flanagan Stars In Sexy Music Video of The Neo-Kalashnikovs"

Helen Flanagan has stripped to her scanties for a starring role in a new music video by New Zealand indie group the Neo-Kalashnikovs.

The promo for Gorgeous Baby was initially slipped out with no explanation, leading to speculation that it could be H-Flan's debut crack at pop stardom. But the 22-year-old actress and model is lip-syncing to the track by the sibling three-piece, having been approached by them because one of the boys had a crush on her.

She is described by the band as their "rock and roll muse".

The video sees H-Flan awake in bed before floating around her home and garden in not-very-many clothes - occasionally swigging from a vodka bottle and puffing on a cigarette.

H-Flan was recently the victim of a break-in at her home. - MTV U.K

"She's On Heat - The Neo-Kalashnikovs (Album Review)"

Aucklanders The Neo-Kalashnikovs know all about keeping it in the family. With their debut album, siblings Volita, Gabriel and Moss Bioletti merrily assault our senses with an uncompromising barrage of serrated guitar riffs and screeching feedback. A raucous throwback to the seminal alternative/grunge sound of the early ’90s, the nine tracks here burst with the growling urgency and garage-rock intensity of bands of that era such as Belly, The Breeders and The Pixies. ‘She’s On Heat’, which was recorded both in NZ and the US, is a refreshingly raw record, packed with catchy tunes with an edge. Capturing the band’s live sound well, this album is a throwback to the days when every messy pick scrape, drumstick crack and noisy breath could be heard on a track, a quirk of analogue recording which helped to breathe life and humanity into the music. The vocals are a definite highlight – lead singer Volita’s angelic tones glide effortlessly over the onslaught of dirty fuzz-laden riffs below, in a smart contrast which works well both musically and lyrically. Standouts include the anthemic Shining Star and the bittersweet Tell You What I Wanna. While there are a couple of filler tracks, overall this is a solid and impressive album. Bio

Auckland-based alt-rock band The Neo-Kalashnikovs have recently wrapped up a stint in the studio recording their latest single Treat Me Right drawing inspiration from Neil Young to the Rolling Stones. Currently on tour throughout New Zealand alongside Wellingtonians Forcefields in May 2014 the band have plans to unveil new video clips shot on location in London and Rome with indie record label White Zoo Records.

Forming in late October 2012, the band leapt to a roaring start after releasing their critically acclaimed free rock album Shes On Heat. Praise from their local fan base saw The Neos rack up over 5000 downloads of their first record online.  Blogs all around the globe were quick to praise the record reminiscent of 90s rock like the Pixies and Nirvana.

The band's first single Turn the Tables released in 2013 was immediately added to high rotation on Hauraki FM in New Zealand gaining strong backing from all djs. The song would then go onto to be the most played independent rock song of the year. International acclaim also came for The Neos in 2013 when their second single Gorgeous Baby released through Noisey.com/Vice amassed over 1,000,000 views worldwide. The notorious video would go on to be covered by NME, Daily Mail, The Mirror. Whilst also making headlines on the New Zealand Heralds front page.

While being married to rock and roll The Neo-Kalashnikovs have maintained a solid love affair with Los Angeles gracing stages from The Viper Room to the Echo and all the unknown dive bars in between. The bands most memorable show actually occurred in Las Vegas in the sweltering heat of beer engulfed college block party. With no signs of slowing down The Neos plan to tour relentless throughout 2014 and are always aiming to make their name at international festivals overseas.

The siblings are set to release their sophomore E.P Urban Warfare in 2014, although their debut record Shes On Heat has just been given a new lease of life with the new single Treat Me Right. If anything can be sure its that The Neos will continue to enjoy making music for their fans and living the rock n roll dream.
