Having the luxury of three years in the rehearsal room, as well as access to the choicest pickings from The Darryl Gray Songbook, gave The Neurotransmitters the chance to develop and find their own sound without having to put a foot on stage. It also allowed them to master a repertoir of over three hours of original material, with which they have the ability to tailor their sets to allow for any conceivable venue or support slot without any compromise to their artistic integrity.
Not that the band haven't done the hard yards. The last two years has seen The Neurotransmitters venture south annually to convert the locals of such localities as The Lansdowne, Sydney, The Espy in Melbourne and The Grace Emily in Adelaide, as well as most places in between. The last year has also seen the band play at Brisbane venues like The Rev, The Alley, The Zoo and The Troubadour as well as shows with The Heavenly States from the U.S. and Sydney Triple J favourites Peregrine. The band last played during The Valley Fiesta at The Troubadour with Andrew Morris.
2005 is looking like being a big year for The Neurotransmitters with the recording of their debut album in September, their recent appearance in their first feature film (of which they contributed 9 songs to the soundtrack) and the filming of the video clip for their debut single.
It might be a good idea to catch The Neurotransmitters while you can. There is no telling what will happen in 2006.
