"'I dig these guys'"

These guys are a no-frills, straight ahead rock band in the tradition of Fugazi and The Talking Heads. When it seems like most local acts are more focused on their quasi-post-punk-emo-esque-b.s. image and rehashing crappy pulp rock, the New Dumb show up, rock their set with solid songs and walk off stage having given you their music and nothing excessive. I dig these guys.
- Dustin Lee, Co-Host "Some Things Considered" - WRBB Radio, 104.9 FM, Boston, MA

Bio

to whom it may concern:

"we are the new dumb. we're a three piece band from allston, Massachusetts and we like rock music. our sound can be described as an indie-rock-punk type thing with a dashing sense of humor and good looks. we've been told we sound something like any or all or none of these bands: pixies, fugazi, the liars, ween, misfits, gang of four, etc. - basically post-punk type stuff, that's what we like and that's what we do - we write songs that are fun and loud and entertaining.

the band was formed at first in 2001, and began recording music and playing shows in early 2003. since then, we've taken a do-it-yourself mantra and recorded two demos (16 songs total), produced, mixed, and engineered by ourselves and played all throughout Boston and Cambridge. Our highlights have included The Middle East (upstairs headliner), The Paradise Rock Club, T.T. the Bear's, The Abbey Lounge, the Skybar, and all the little places in between. In 2004, we competed and advanced in the Emergenza Festival (International Battle of the Bands, emergenza.net). Additionally, we market the band ourselves, doing all of our own graphic design and production, including our website and flyering. we take a lot of pride in our self-sufficiency.

In the upcoming few months, we plan to target record companies who are interested in helping us bring THE NEW DUMB to the people. we're currently reviewing offers and we'd love for you to listen to what we've got. we're also looking to link up with showcase tours, festivals, and any other music opportunities that fit our likings... you can contact us at info@thenewdumb.com with any questions, comments, praise, hate, rants, raves, recipes - whatevah you got. thanks for your time. rock hard and prosper." - love, the riz.

"What sets us apart is that we don't take ourselves too seriously, we please ourselves (not like that) and everybody else. We tell jokes and usually play a couple covers that everyone will like. Influences: Fugazi (if they were on nitrous) Pixies, Liars, Ween, Misfits. And women." - love, dr. foster hoyt.
