Bio
This hip-hop quartet , whose ranks comprise of Bossaleane (Born Daniel Thomas), Corleone (Born DeWayne Thomas), Styly (Born Anthony Clay), and E-Boogie (Lavon Gobar) base themselves in Port Arthur, Texas hometown of the well known hip hop group the Underground Kings (UGK). The Gangsta Players musical armory centers around in-house produced tracks and vivid rhymes which reflect their southern lifestyle and demeanor. With this combination, the Gangsta Players are sure to produce good urban/mainstream hip-hop music for years to come. The roots of the Gangsta Players can be traced back to 1995 when the four lyricists and former member Broderick Hardtime Mitchell independently released the single Let The Good Times Roll. The song became an instant underground hit, selling over 8,000 units regionally, which led to major label interests. After talks with various label executives and A&Rs died down, no significant contract offers were signed prompting Hardtime to leave the group and pursue a solo recording career. However, the four remaining members, Bossaleane, Corleone, E-Boogie and Styly continued their relentless work ethic in the studio while still maintaining nine to five jobs. Now, after years of drive and determination, the new Gangsta Players are set to independently release their new album Da Love of Money Chpt. 1 in summer 2006 on their own record label Skyline Records. It consists of well put together songs which tell of the good and bad times of southern living and the environment they live in. With beats from an eclectic production team appropriately name 11st Musik, the Da Luv of Money gives off a sound not typical to the traditional Houston Screw flava while still maintaining a southern feel. Features include verses from up and coming Skyline artists Young Donnie, Ric-Hard and R&B artist BenZo. Callin Me, the first single off the new album, is already gaining mainstream airplay on radio stations throughout the Southeast region. With a new album, single, video, and DVD Documentary already in the books for this dynamic group of Port Arthur MCs, the Gangsta Players plan to take a stronghold on mainstream hip-hop and prove to non-believers that good things really do come to those who wait!
