"FIRST THOUGHT…"

"First thought that comes to mind is a sort of strange Simple Minds vibe mixing in with that new oldness of The Editors, but with a little more Jim Morrison instead of Ian Curtis in the vocals. Very synth driving swirly catchy dark pop tunes that hit on some great reference points for me. From the Chameleons UK to Julian Cope and the Teardrop Explodes. I know that might all sound like some blast from the past, but fortunately these songs manage to sound like they are facing the future. Perhaps they live in an old house, but somewhere within it they built a new room."

"WHY ARE THESE GUYS NOT FAMOUS!?!?!?!... FIVE STARS"

“The first time I saw “thenewroom” was at a club in Los Angeles. I had no idea who they were but they immediately gained my attention! I Love this band!!! They have a very unique sound with even better lyrics. They are just as good in person as they are on their album. The singer Anthony has a great voice and receives the attention of everyone in the room when he is performing…The bass player James has a calm cool when playing and the guitar and drum work are flawless. I can’t say enough about these guys and I can’t wait to hear what else they produce…”

Bio

The New Room is an indie/alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California. Drawing from post-punk/new wave, glam and indie dance rock; their influences include such artists as Roxy Music, Echo and the Bunnymen, David Bowie, and The Chameleons. In 2006 the band released a self-titled three-song EP, which received radio play on local college (“Part Time Punks” on KXLU, 88.9 fm) and Internet stations (“…IS GOOD” w/ Jon Hershfield, Killradio.org) and earned the group fans both locally and abroad. Gaining momentum with their recently self-released debut full-length “Only World We Know” (April, 2009), The New Room is spreading their unique style of epic, dark pop even further. The four-piece, which consists of Anthony on vocals/guitar, Mig on guitar/Keys, James on bass and Jason on drums, have brought their compelling live show to audiences at many popular Southland venues, including: The Troubadour, The Knitting Factory, The Whisky A Go Go, The Roxy, The Hotel Café, as well as east-side mainstay The Echo, The Scene in Glendale, among others.
