Bio

The New Traditions was originally conceived in 2002 when Andrew Bates and Mark Klingele got together to create the perfect pop/rock song. After lots of furious songwriting, Andrew and Mark realized that their music needed a band and they began searching for the right musicians to form the next big thing to come out of Madison, WI. Since then, TNT has grown by adding Riley (drums,) Brian (bass,) Adam (keys,) and Ryan (guitar) and making the most explosive combination since Nitro and Glycerin.

Since the formation of the band, TNT has played many gigs at such noteable venues such as The High-Noon Saloon, The Klinic, The Slipper Club, The Club Tavern, Liquid Lyrics Lounge, The UW Memorial Union, Conway's, Big E's Beach Club, The Portal, Ward-Brodt, and the Break-In-The-Weather Festival.

The New Traditions are currently recording their first full-length album for release in 2006.

Andrew Bates - Vocals
Andrew has been making music for years and has played hundreds of gigs in diverse music exploits such as being the original drummer of Multi-Award Winning Wisconsin band, EXIT, harmonica player for The Blue Olives, and founding member of the UW MadHatters. In Andrew’s musical style, it easy to see the influence of musicians like Rob Thomas, Ben Folds, Joe Cocker, Adam Duritz, John Mayer, Billy Joel, Gavin DeGraw and Bono.

Mark Klingele – Guitar
Mark is a musician whom you might recognize from Stumblerun and San Guin. He’s been slingin’ his axe for almost 10 years and loves the music of The Edge, Johnny Greenwood, Billy Corgan, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and, of course, Jimi.

Ryan Bavery - Guitar
Although a relative newcomer to the Madison music scene, Ryan has played guitar for years. Some may remember him as part of the musical duo Bruised
Ego. While most heavily influenced by Dave
Matthews, he also especially admires Jerry Cantrell and Richard Thompson.

Adam Morstad – Keyboards
Adam brings an exciting dimension to the sound of TNT with his years of musical training in classical, jazz, and popular styles which givies him a sound reminiscent of Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea. Adam has jammed with critically acclaimed groups like The Pipe Circus, the Edgewood Jazz Combo, and Beatles tribute band, Rubber Soul.

Brian Cochran – Bass Guitar
As a student of Madison Music All-Star Ken Fitzsimmons, Brian brings an educated musicality to the low end of TNT. Aside from Ken, Brian has also learned much from the music of John Paul Jones and James Jameson.

Riley Henninger – Drums, Vocals
One of the busiest musicians in Madison, Riley is always on the go. He’s been involved in many projects throughout his musical career and is also a talented teacher of percussion, teaching all the he’s learned from his influences like Keith Moon and Max Roach.
