The New York Howl is an explosive punk, blues, rock n roll, psychedelic, soul family band living in Brooklyn, New York. We share a dream. We endeavor to hold the crackling, livid, blinding, screaming, fleeting, weightless truth in the palm of our hands, in the muscle of our hearts and in the wet of our mouths. You will see us breathe bright waterfalls of fire and you will hear the sounds of children playing with electricity.
Even before the arrival of bassist Teresa "T-Bone" Amram six months ago, you would have been hard pressed to find a band in NYC with more grit and soul than The New York Howl. But with T-Bone's arrival, the Howl is now anchored by the baddest, gnarliest husband-wife rhythm section east of the Hudson, or possibly the Mississippi. Depending on the track, drummer Adam Amram conjures the fervor of Keith Moon or the smooth dexterity of Buddy Rich -- and T-Bone's bass licks follow that comet like Apollo. Axe-wielding, towering frontman Andrew Katz commands a presence like the Stax or Chess icons of old -- but is hardly a throwback in the tone of Dap. Instead, the Howl's sound is RIGHT NOW. THIS VERY INSTANT. New tracks from their forthcoming release include an ode to a fifteen-inch tall vixen, and a modern lover's plea to please "turn off the lights; and TURN OFF YOUR STUPID PHONE."
