Bio

For your Consideration – here is info on NYC’s #1 Live Band!

The critics said it best:

“Lunacy? Spectacle? And music, too?” Rene Chun, The New York Times

“The best rock show I’ve seen in months.” Dan Aquilante, The New York Post

The Niagaras have an incredible live show filled with crazy energy, outrageous humor, and unbelievable originality. This highly-regarded group has been performing for years both nationally and internationally; they’re very unique performers with an emphasis on showmanship.

The group has done many types of special/celebrity events, and has thrived mainly because they are so engaging, zany, and fun - they make things really exciting.

The Niagaras’ new album, “ENCHANTMENT” featuring the single “TODAY WE ARE BEAUTIFUL”, is a truly enchanting mix of soul-influenced dance songs and ballads. Tuneful, memorable, and highly poetic – it’s music that really sticks in your head.

Writers’ Robert Whaley and Tony Grimaldi are currently at work on their much-anticipated new musical-play, “Wrong Way UP,” the follow-up to their off-Broadway hit, “The Niagara Follies.” After great notices and a sold-out months long run at New York City’s Belt Theater, the piece will be performed again later this year. The band has also taken their talents overseas where they recently completed a successful European tour, grabbing even more rave reviews.

In addition to all this Whaley/Grimaldi wrote and recorded the original score for the feature film, “Joe the King”. Starring Val Kilmer, John Leguizamo, and Ethan Hawke, “Joe the King” won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Many reviews of the film, which was given a theatrical release by Lion’s Gate, recognized the beautiful sound and nostalgic feel of the soundtrack. Whaley/Grimaldi also have songs appearing in the feature film, “Pursuit of Happiness”, and have scored the feature film, “The Jimmy Show”, released by First Look Films.

The Niagaras have made numerous television appearances, including “Good Morning America.” Robert’s quick wit and antics were a hit with the national television audience, many of whom are now among The Niagaras’ dedicated and loyal following.

So please do enjoy, and thanks so much for taking the time to check this out! Keep in mind - a national television appearance reel is also available!

HERE’S WHAT THE CRITICS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT Robert Whaley and THE NIAGARAS

‘ It was a performance Jim Morrison would have loved…Lunacy? Spectacle? And music too?’Rene Chun, New York Times

‘…the best show I’ve seen in months. It was a fit of deliberate performance that riveted every eye on the powerful Niagaras…’Dan Aquilante, New York Post

‘The Niagaras are a high turbo blend of manic songs and clever and whacked out improv – Robert Whaley should be a Ritalin poster boy. And I mean that admiringly.’ Cynthia True, Time Out New York

‘The Niagaras remain committed to sharp dressed showmanship and sharp witted pop.’New Yorker Magazine

‘…it’s painfully obvx™ New York’s longest running acts. Their songs are odd hybrids of Beatles-esque melodies and Zappa-esque rhythms…’Dawn Eden, New York Press

‘Singer/cornetist/clown prince Robert Whaley tosses Bowie/Morrissey and Quentin Crisp into a Ventures blender, adds a dash of grenadine, a splash of mescaline, hits ‘ultra-whip’ and splurt! It’s all over the ceiling.’Steve Santos, Alternative Press

‘Musicians can get by on mere talent. But beauty turns talent into a luxury. The Niagaras are a handsome quartet who dress like Harry Connick Jr. and sound like Oingo Boingo with extra guitars.’Rob Tannenbaum, Musician Magazine

‘Stars fall for the Niagaras’.Candace Busnell, Vogue Magazine
