Bio
The Nice Machine is a three piece instrumental band that is equally influenced by surf, punk, oldies radio, soundtracks, rock, and reverb laden experimental music. Snippets of jazz and reggae are occasionally thrown in for good measure. In addition to the standard line up of drums, bass, guitar, and sometimes keys, the band encourages guest theremin appearances by both musicians and non-musicians.
After playing together in various bands since attending middle school in South Carolina, the drummer and guitarist began to write songs through a combination of improvisation and by recording snippets of ideas for later dissection. They later moved to Athens and released several albums on the (sadly) now defunct EC Ruins label. Adding bass player Steve Abercrombie in 2008 added a new dimension to the band by giving it a some meatiness and an influx of fresh ideas for the writing process. The band is currently promoting their 6th album "Jack Cousteau", which was self recorded on an analog 8 track cassette machine during the latter half of 2012.
