Bio

Originally hailing from the Lindsay, Ontario area The Nohawks have played music together in varying groups that have had numerous successes for 10+ years. After moving to, and catching up with each other in Toronto in 2003, the quartet quickly set-up a rehearsal space and began writing original material under the hastily chosen name Hypercricket. That moniker lasted for about 4 years too long before they assumed a new identity as The Nohawks. This title was earned by their reckless abandon of current urban trends and a conservative choice of SuperCuts.

Though the band fared well as Hypercricket- with some gigs, promotion on local radio and releasing an EP- it was time to move on towards bigger and better things under a new name. This led to their inception as the Nohawks. Since then the band worked hard at recording a kick-ass 12 song LP of material. This album exemplifies their unique blend of high energy rock with strong influences from early 90s Southern California Skate Punk, Classic Rock, Ska and Hardcore.

Aside from their unparalleled songwriting style, the differentiation between the Nohawks and the rest of the musical acts right now is their passion for what they do, their genuity, and an instrumentation that separates them from other acts in the genre. The Nohawks deliver piano-driven, high energy rock with shredding guitar, booming bass, and driving drums in a refreshing key of social consciousness without a tinge of contrivance or self-awareness.
