Dublin/Cardiff 5 piece The North Sea have played a string of packed out shows recently with the success of winning the semi finals of Irelands biggest battle of the bands contest ,The King Kong Club, still reverberating around them, featuring headline slots in Dublin’s premier music venue, Whelan’s.
The band were formed in early 2010 through a shared love of early nineties indie, such as ‘The Field Mice’ and ‘Echo and the Bunnymen’.
They spent the first part of the year writing, rehearsing, and gigging their sparkling set and have recently returned from the studio after recording a demo of their most popular tunes, including Against the Ropes and Only Watching(For a copy please email, address below)
Having just returned from a short tour to the UK playing two shows in London an Brighton, the band were featured on, new rising acts barometer, Balcony TV in Brighton. They were also featured on Irelands National Broadcaster RTE 2FM, and were hailed as ‘Dublin’s fastest rising stars’ by Dublin Music scene supremo, Keiron Campbell Black (The Amazing Few, King Kong Club)
The close of 2010 was a busy and exciting time for this fresh new band. With a slot in one of Irelands best Indie Festivals Knockanstockan confirmed for summer 2011 as well as dates in Dublin and Cork, 2011 promises to be their year, watch this space for details.
