"OUT OF THE RAIN COMES THE NORTHWEST SONS"

"Last year six local musicians found themselves without an outlet for their love of playing reggae. Based in Seattle, the group has made an impact on the local scene with their energetic live shows. The band consists of Ian Ayers on vocals and acoustic guitar, Chris Molina on vocals and electric guitar, Erik Madsen on bass, Bret Bailey on drums, Art Arzaga Jr. on keyboards and percussion and Jordan Price on trumpet. The band was formed in June 2009. One of their early gigs was in Seattle opening for Hawaiian reggae artist Sashamon. “We all stepped up and worked hard,” Ayers said of that show. Thrilled by the encouragement Sashamon gave them. “That helped me out for sure.” “It is definitely a group effort,” Ayers said. “The key thing for us is to never force it.” The band has a live CD and an acoustic EP. They just finished recording their first full-length studio album, “Boundary Line.” Arzaga handled the engineering. He studied audio production at Art Institute of "John Larson - Tacoma Weekly - John Larson

Bio

The Northwest Sons were born when Chris Molina and Ian Ayers both from bands that had recently broke up started jamming together and writing songs on the beach. Their personalities and talent blended together so perfectly that the songs started flowing in rapid succession. Two years ago they played their first acoustic show in Ocean Shores, Wa. The Northwest Sons quickly grew to a full band and started playing shows all over the northwest. Their first album ‘The Boundary Line’ was released a year later with huge success. This catapulted the drive and determination for bigger success. The band has changed shape along the way getting through each tour, struggle, and accomplishment with a greater appreciation for music, fans, and one another. All members: Ian Ayers-vocals and guitar, Chris Molina- lead guitar and vocals, Jesse Turcotte- bass, Bret Bailie- drums, Brett Cummings- saxophone, and Kyle Bova- percussion put together a vibrant collage of musical talent and experience to create a unique Northwest Reggae vibe and sound. After months of hard work and dedication The Northwest Sons released their second album ‘Out of the Rain’ in May 2011 to their fans, at The Showbox Market, who had been anxiously anticipating the release. The Northwest Sons are excited for their future music successes and challenges, always trying to meet the demands of their long time dedicated fans and making new ones along the way.
