The best kept secret in music

"Sam Roberts/Delta Ballroom St. John's, NL"

Local band The Novaks kicked off the night with a set that matched the headliners in both music and style. Their straightforward rock sound set the mood, while their shaggy hair and vintage clothes complimented their dynamic perfectly. Lead singer and guitarist Mike Davis even looked like Bob Dylan's love child, with his overgrown curly locks and his '80s style leather jacket, the collar rolled up, of course.

"ECMA Performance Hunt"

When an act didn't show up at the MuchMusic Rock Stage, hometown favorites The Novaks answered the call. With a rip-roaring set oozing of that classic '90s Halifax sound, they impressed a number of media and executive delegates who were left talking about them for days.

"OZFM Concert In The Plaza"

...the band showcased their trademark rock and roll stomp...as they performed an energetic set of addictive tunes that continues their growing reputation...
-Kevin Kelly - The Newfoundland Herald

"The Novaks at The New Junctions"

Drummer Elliot Dicks' arms were raised and flailing, guitarist Chuck Tucker and bassist Mark Neary banged their shaggy heads fiercely, while leather jacket-clad guitarist Mike Davis swaggered around the microphone and released lyrics like a coy wildcat.

Bio

Hailing from St. John's, Nfld. Canada, The Novaks are "thee" new face of rock and roll. Blending the sounds together of old school heroes such as The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and The Cars they have created an authentic, immediate new school sound. Fronted by Mick Davis and Chuck Tucker and rounded out by Mark Neary on bass and Elliot Dicks on the drums the band has caused a stir since their birth only 2 short years ago. Coming from a province steeped in tradition that has fought back the evils of MTV, and mainstream pop culture, The Novaks were quickly labelled the "Saviours of Rock and Roll" by fans and press alike. Just back from a 2-week trip 3000 miles away to the Inside Music studio, they have already made major headway on their upcoming first release. From the opening salvo of "Good-bye Rock and Roll Band" to the haunting dark tale of friendship on "You Don't Have To Hang Around", it's easy to see why the Novaks are making quick ground. This past month found the band spreading the word far beyond their native homeland with a pair of shows in England that left the band getting recognized on the streets of London and a demand for future shows. With a punishing live show to match, The Novaks are the real deal. Welcome back Rock and Roll.
