"New Bands: The Oats"

In this video we start by introducing ourselves and then we tell the story about how it all started, Armando and Andres working on a few songs 3 years ago and then Alfonso entering the band to play the bass and then Oscar to play the drums. Then we talk about how we first recorded a few demos ourselves and that we uploaded those to myspace and that was how we caught our producer's attention. Then how we recorded, mixed, mastered our EP. We talk about how at first it all started as a hobby with Andres and Armando playing songs together in Andres' bedroom and how it all started getting serious playing at more gigs and recording the EP. Finally we talk about gigs and that we are working on new songs. - X3-T.V. show

"The Oats at casa Hilvana"

n this video she starts by saying that we're a relatively new band, that started playing in 2008. Then she says that being a new band and given that this is our first EP, we sound really good, so she wants us to tell her how our experience recording it was. We tell her how it was recording it and then she asks us why everything we record is in English. We tell her that it is because all of our influences and the music we love is in that language. After that she asks us about how the band started and tells us to talk about our influences. We tell her that it started with Armando and Andres working together on a few songs and then Alfonso entered the band to record the bass for the EP and Oscar for the drums. Finally we tell her that our greatest influence was The Beatles because we love their music and our parents used to listen to them a lot and then The Libertines because they're a band that has two lead vocals and we simply love their music. - Rock & Tan Magazine

Smokin' Smokings - EP (2010)
Laura - Single (2011)
You Know Me - Single (2011)

We are The Oats, an indie rock band from Mexico city that was formed in the hot summer of 2008. We have a fairly strong fan base here in Mexico and it started to expand to Canada like the swine flu after we finished a four month tour in Toronto, where we had the opportunity to play at the NXNE 11.

Our first EP, "Smokin Smokings", which got great reviews, gave us the opportunity to play abroad, to experience different cultures and to have sex with lots and lots of people!

We are 100% independent and love what we do. Everything we have achieved has been possible because of our hard work. We are really focused on getting our band to be recognized throughout the world.

We just finished the tracking process of our second EP, to be mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by the end of spring 2012. We are going to NY in June with the help of our friend and consultant Joe Foster (My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain) and will be there for a couple of months, with gigs at Pianos, Sullivan Hall, Otto's Shrunken Head, Don Pedro's and a lot more places to be confirmed.

Hope our tunes speak for themselves!
