"Live Review"

...a literal explosion of musical evolution. The guitarist particularly struck me with his skill and colour. The energy this band created when they got on stage was electric...They simply made you take notice of their legitamacy as not only competant songwriters, but also their power and presence as performance.

Lucy Nesferatu - Drum Media

Bio

'It doesn't take long these days...'
- Robbie Buck JJJ national youth radio

Having shed an previous moniker and eager to show a new change in direction and renewed confidence, THE OCEANS re-launched themselves in July at Candy’s Apartment in Kings Cross.. To an audience of no less then 300 fans, maybe Candy should get a house?

The place went off. The band, electrifying.

Since then, the band has recorded a debut album, signed a 3 album publishing deal with EMI publishing, released their first single which was picked up by JJJ as well as many community radio stations around the country, had a track selected to go on a major alcohol companies surfing DVD (70 000 copies going out nationally starting April) and began regional and interstate touring. The band has also shot their first clip to 'Black Lotus' filmed in a deserted dairy in Wyong, NSW. It is currently being played on Rage.

The Oceans headline Sydney shows are drawing no less then 300 paying fans and have built in the last quarter of 2005 an mailing list of over 800 addresses. The website is averaging 3 500 hits a month and the band have teamed up with Australian designed 'Yokii' to create a quality range of 100% Australian merchandise. (see website for samples).

This is one artist absolutely worth seeing, willing to break out side an easily pigeonholed scene with songs that range from gently textured trippier moments to unrestrained dirty rock.
