“As punk as post-punk can get and as disco as it’ll permit.” At least that’s how one fan described Los Angeles based Indie band, The Oddfaces, after one of their shows.
“That’s fine with us”, says John. “Growing up we looked up to bands like Joy Division, Talking Heads, The Clash, New Order and The Pixies and yes, some of us listened to Abba and the Bee Gees, so it makes sense.”
Formed in 2005, the group’s original line up consisted of singer/songwriter/bassist Christa Cordova, songwriter/guitarist John Deptowicz and a drum machine. These days they are joined by bassist Ivan Gonzalez and drummer Jorge Herrera.
Driven by their passion for music, film and art, The Oddfaces sing their blues to an effortless dance beat that resonates close to their fans’ hearts.
The Oddfaces are no strangers to estrangement and disappointment, hence their name. “It’s not fun being the odd man out,” says John. We know what it’s like to be different and not fit in” says Christa, and that’s why people can relate to our songs.
