Bio

The lyrics of The Odyssey Favor often dwell in the beautiful side of tragedy and the tragic aspects of beauty. Their lyrics seem to revel in the chaotic (“Catch Me Karen,” the opening track on the bands self-titled CD, calls for “All hands on deck, it’s black tie for the wreck”) and find unease in status quo (“Britney” addresses a pop-culture-based society where “nothing seems real when the world’s not paying attention”). The Odyssey Favor layers these lyrics on music that blends the quirkiness of art-rock with a midwestern pop sensibility. The result keeps you moving while you listen and sticks with you long after.

Song writing duties are mainly split between Chad Dressler and Erik Styles, who tackle such diverse topics as espionage, burritos, fractured domiciles and John Steinbeck novels. Bassist Jenny Elig and Drummer Andrew Lee Shutz provide a solid rhythm section and harmonies ranging from sweet to haunting.

A couple of years and a host of shows later, The Odyssey Favor has built a following among music fans in Indianapolis who are drawn to their unique brand of rock’n’roll heartbreak and mayhem. The Odyssey Favor’s self-titled debut CD is available online at CD Baby and iTunes or in Indianapolis at Luna Music and Indy CD and Vinyl.
