"Progress-Beard"

Beard has accomplished, on their debut, what most artists spend years chasing. The musicians are tasteful and visceral, the songs are well-written and memorable, whilst the lyrics are uncharacteristically thought provoking. It’s so rare that an album like Progress is conceived while the band is still so young, but I suppose that’s the glory of it, anyway. Perhaps the most remarkable part of it all is that Beard has already carved out their own sound, in a musical climate of reminiscence and “borrowing”. Mark my words, this band will not remain undiscovered; not if they keep playing like this. - Yralbum's a sucker

"6 Must-Hear Indie Singles"

The beautiful single from “progressive folk” band BEARD fuses an array of influences from Jazz to Brazilian (and more) to create a unique and uniquely harmonious sound. The Boston-based act released this single in prelude to their album which comes out on September 1st. Jazzy and mellow, “We’ll Make It” changes shape and structure as you move from beginning to end, giving indie fans something a little different from the norm. Bio

BEARD

BEARD is a seven-piece progressive folk band that comes from the heart of Boston. As musicians raised in the legacy of Berklee College of Music, their primary purpose as BEARD is to impact their audience through genre-defying progressive folk, fusing together traces of jazz, bluegrass, americana, classical, R&B, and rhythms influenced by world music. Their profound sense of lyricism is no stranger to them as well as their instrumental precision, finding influence and inspiration from greats like Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan through their lead singer, Isaiah Beard.

Their debut album Progress, released on September 1st, 2016, addresses the fragility of the moment and uncertainty as their music arrives at a time of change - symbolically and literally with autumn, represented in full bloom, as its current. The virtuosic acoustic septet offers a blossoming experience with Progress as their ambitious journey, seasoned with rhythmic energy and melodic intricacies that appears remarkably human. With BEARD, their raw approach to emotive undertones is passionate and intimate, swiftly tugging on the heartstrings.

On the precipice of innovative folk, BEARD finds its voice amidst their contemporaries from Andrew Bird, Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek, The Goat Rodeo Sessions, and Department of Eagles, they hope that whoever listens to their voice can better understand themselves with this great, big world around them. BEARD comes humbly as something new, sincere, and incredibly immersive.
