Bio
The idea of The OffShoots was originally born at the Strawberry Music Festival, when members of The Mixers, a popular Bay Area Classic Rock band, experienced the popularity of American Roots revival music. It occurred to them that over a million people attended the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco and that popular artists such as Robert Plant and Elvis Costello were fully committed to this roots-based American music. The thought became: "Why only play this wonderful music around the camp ground? Let's find out how many people like it as much as we do."
And so The OffShoots came to be. The same band members expanded their instrumentation to include Banjos, Mandolin, Slide Guitar, Percussion, Flute and Accordion. With three excellent singers, the vocals are powerful and the harmony sweet. A nimble and diverse rhythm section supports the acoustic melodies. It is obvious the band loves this music and they deliver it with enthusiasm, warmth and feeling.
