Biography

There is a new sound emanating through the burnt out steel mills and dirty streets of northeast, Ohio. There is a new spirit and a new energy filling the hearts of the young and discontent. In the past this area has been known as “the mistake by the lake”, but in the future people will look back and remember this area with a new phrase: “This is where the revolution started…” This is where THE OHIO SKY began to change the face of rock.

In august 2006 guitarist Vince Difranco (ex-shenoah), Vocalist Rob Montague (ex-shenoah, this mourning memory), bassist Michael Drury (ex-this mourning memory) and drummer Eric Bambic set out to bring passionate driving rock back onto the scene. Textured melodies, soaring vocals, sonic guitars, pounding percussion, thunderous bass, and undeniable hooks. “We want to bring back honest rock music,” says vocalist Rob Montague then continues, “It’s very disheartening to hear artists who don’t write their own songs. Their concern is more focused on image and packaging. We want to tear down those ideals and burn them to the ground.” With no barriers or guidelines to box them in THE OHIO SKY create music combining their love for anything rock, alternative, and indie.

In December 2006 the band traveled 3000 miles from their familiar buckeye state surroundings to Los Angeles, California to record 2 songs with the DIRTY ICON production team made up of Logan Mader (machinehead, soulfly) and Lucas Baker (Junkie XL). Showcasing the bands talent for great songwriting and strong focus on melody, “vanish” and “the getaway” were born. Building steam upon returning to Cleveland THE OHIO SKY has been playing relentlessly to pleased crowds in and around the region. With the word spreading and the support of local radio the band then hit the famous Spider Studios to work with Ben Schigel(drowning pool, sw1tched, chimaira) to record 2 more songs(jupiter and the first stone). The first four songs they recorded were released with two additional live tracks on a self-titled EP through Cleveland Label ApproachingStormRecords.

Quickly gaining steam The Ohio Sky were tapped as the first band to appear on the cover to PRESSURE MAGAZINE, served as the headliners to the Main stage at this year’s Ingenuity-fest in downtown Cleveland, and appeared on a nationally released compilation put out by Rock magazine NO COVER whom also did a write up on the band.

With a sound as huge and awe inspiring as the sky itself this is a band to watch, so raise your flags and raise your voice, this is THE OHIO SKY.

Lyrics

the getaway

Written By: the ohio sky

i move in circles
going faster round and round
each time i think it might work out
my head gets in the clouds
to communicate my hands would shake
i'd crumble to the ground
to pass the time perpetuate this circumstance
we've found

what did you expect?

i don't wanna let you down
so run away
i don't wanna hear the sound
of a heart about to break

the past will tell the story
of the lives that we have known
while some of us are travelers
some of us are homes
i've warned you and i've whispered
of the things that curse me deep
erase the scars to reach the stars
and feel the air we breathe

what do you regret?

i don't wanna let you down
so run away
i don't wanna hear the sound
of a heart about to break

so go and leave me to the breeze
i'm begging on my knees
this one's got me down again

so go and leave me to the breeze
i'm begging on my knees

so go away you would not stay
anyway
just leave

i don't wanna let you down
so run away
i don't wanna hear the sound
of a heart about to break
i don't wanna let you down
so run away
i don't wanna hear the sound
of a heart about to break

vanish

Written By: the ohio sky

don't turn away from me
these ghosts of memories
remain unchanged
this feels strange
to say it to myself
hazardous to my health
it's like a drug to me

so convincing
pieces missing
lose yourself
inside a maze of words

vanish from my eyes
because you kill me sweetly
vanish from my eyes
you drain me so completely
now

my heart still skips a beat
just like a sick machine
i'm running out of misery
these bruises heal the need
to bring you back to me
i'm leaving now
we're history

so convincing
pieces missing
lose yourself
inside the masquerade

vanish from my eyes
because you kill me sweetly
vanish from my eyes
you drain me so completely
now

i'll sing a song to soothe the beast
i'll burn a thousand reveries
(forever love, forever fire, forever lost inside desire)

vanish from my eyes
because you kill me sweetly
vanish from my eyes
you drain me so completely
now

completely now

jupiter

Written By: the ohio sky

have you ever seen the sunrise
from the surface of the moon?
well i wish i could describe
the way you move that way
when words don't come as easy
like breathing in the air
or maybe gentle fire
the fire of your stare
this one has a sense of
circumstance unfair
well maybe
maybe she is
jupiter
miles away
like jupiter
miles away
did i lose you on that ride
did we come down far to soon
i'll let her fingers be the guide
or else we'll end up sideways
these words don't come as easy
like breathing in the air
or maybe gentle fire
the fire of your stare
this one has a sense of
circumstance unfair
well maybe
maybe she is
jupiter
miles away
like jupiter
miles away
this one's just right
(woah)
burns like gentle fire on the breeze
(woah)
this one keeps me begging on my knees
she is jupiter
miles away
like jupiter
