Bio

Formed in the spring of 2011, The Ole Fashion originated as the house band for a weekly country music jam session in downtown Toronto. Pulling together members already established in various other facets of the Toronto music community, this group wanted to explore the wide world of country and North American roots music with the intention of bringing together and networking with the many talented Toronto-based musicians within the idiom. Out of this effort, a new band was born with its own distinct personality. While "country music" is too often marginalized as a single style, The Ole Fashion has placed itself apart from other groups by developing a sound and repertoire that traverses the vast and diverse body of work that this genre has to offer. Drawing from a multitude of eras and styles, The Ole Fashion will have you tapping your toe, stompin' on the floor, and sometimes even crying in your beer. The Ole Fashion is animated by two distinct vocal personalities, Loraina Fox and Darcy Windover. Accompanying them, in addition to Darcy's guitar pickin' and harmonica blowing, is Kevin Neal on the pedal steel guitar and vocals, Kurt Nielsen on standup bass, and Robin Pirson on drums. The scope of their repertoire ranges from the songbooks of country icons such as Ernest Tubb, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson, all the way to neo-roots gems such as Ray Lamontagne, Ryan Adams, Gillian Welch and Old Crow Medicine Show. Having spent their first 6 months honing a unique sound and 'tipping their hats' to the old and new icons of country and roots music, they are now evolving a distinct style and will be making a contribution of their own to the music world with new original tunes.
