The O-Line

The O-Line

 Atlanta, Georgia, USA
BandRockFolk

The O-Line condenses the roots of Folk Rock, Jam Band, and Pop music into tight and seductive blend, driven mostly by laying memorable and melodic leads over a plethora of rhythmic styles. The band's self-proclaimed genre, "Gorp", is a metaphor for The O-Line being "the trail-mix of music".

Biography

Founders Brendan O'Leary and Brian O'Connor buried The O-Line's roots in the small town of Essex, Vermont, underneath Brian's three-car garage before heading off to college together in Atlanta. Throughout the years, those roots kept the duo writing and performing in an effort to channel the sounds of their mutual home. After 7 years of writing, the foundation for a band was set and the two pooled their resources to bring together the idyllic group of guys now known as "The O-Line". Undoubtedly, each new band member brought his own flair to the music. Mike Miles thumps the bass guitar like a heathen hell-spawn warrior, Nathan Hadley rips a driving snare and kick like a bull-in-heat in a wavy red cloth shop, and Paul Hsieh draws emotion from his bow like a 'roided out Nicolas Sparks. The band also has the occasional pleasure of playing alongside touring lead guitarist John Rosser, whose soaring solos and heart-melting melodic pieces have been known to bring singing sirens to their (would-be) knees.

Summary: The O-Line will steal your girlfriend.

Lyrics

Best I Can

Written By: Brendan O'Leary

I can't look in your eyes while I'm telling lies
But I'm lying the the best I can
And I know for you, you've gotta get through
And you're trying the best you can
That means for me, I've gotta be
Doing the best I can, I can, I can

This is a tribute
To all that we won't be
This is a tribute
To all we'll never see
This is a falling
From what we used to be
There is no answer here
To "we"

I can't look in your eyes while I'm telling lies
But I'm lying the best I can
And I know for you, you've gotta get through
And you're crying the best you can
That means for me, I've gotta be
Gotta be the bigger man, but I can't, no not again

This is a tribute
To all that we won't be
This is a tribute
To all we'll never see
This is a falling
From what we used to be
There is no answer here
To "we"

This is a tribute
To all that we won't be
This is a tribute
To all we'll never see
This is a falling
From what we used to be
There is no answer here
To "we"

Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye

Covered My Eyes

Written By: Brendan O'Leary

Do you think that she might find another one to call her own?
Another steady son to lie upon?
A true gentleman to whisper in her ear all the things that she wants to hear?
Wants to hear from only me and no one else
Not another soul, not another soul, not another soul

While indifference is haunting me mightily
Creeping softly into the midst of this waxing abyss
When it breaks through the skin of this lie,
I won't be here to watch this nightmare come alive
Cause this fear in your head will last through til you're dead
You're a whore and a bitch and a liar

Through all of these lies that you've fed through my mind
I can't sleep cause it hurts to know all of the time
That you've mangled my trust, gave a fuck about us
Hid the facts while you covered my eyes

Every Guy

Written By: Brendan O'Leary

Every guy spends time pretending
That he don't need no affection
From a girl whose only mention
Sends his mind in all directions
But I know
We're gonna be a long time

And this girl whose only mention
Sends his mind in all directions
Spends her time sittin there thinking things
She never thought she would be
Cause she knows that she is dirty
Wants to do him right
We're gonna be a long time

And I know
It's gonna be the same for her
And although it might be hard
And although she might take up all of my time
Man I'm damn willing to try

So with all these new emotions
I'll have cause quite a commotion
But as long as your devotions
Stay in my own lakes and oceans
Well I know that you're the one
Well I know that we'll be fine
We're gonna be a long time

I know
It's gonna be the same for her
And although it might be hard
And although she might take up all of my time
Man I'm damn willing to try

I know
It's gonna be the same for her
And although it might be hard
And although she might take up all of my time
Well man I'm damn willing to try

Pieces

Written By: Brendan O'Leary

Man, is it just that I don't believe
In anything that you've been telling me?
Man I feel so let down
And so in doubt
With the way
You brought me
Down

And still you lied to me
You lied to me
Through it all
And still in spite of me
You've been trying to be
My boss
Man, just leave it alone

Don't play the man who's gonna come and take me home
I knew a man once
But now he's dead and gone
And I cannot feel the ties that you had promised me
It breaks my heart
And leaves the pieces on the street

And still you lied to me
You lied to me
Through it all
And still in spite of me
You've been trying to be
My boss
Man, just let it go

Can't you feel it, man, rocking round through your brain?
Don't you wanna take it off and bring it back home again?

Oh man, who am I supposed to be?
And I'm believing now
That you're not part of me
And but a man can never truly see
What will become of him
In all eternity

And still you lied to me
You lied to me
Through it all
And still in spite of me
You've been trying to be
My boss
Man...

Can't you feel it, man, rocking now through your brain?
Don't you wanna take it off and bring it back home again?
