The Olympic was formed in early 2009, Pretoria , South-Africa, when member and vocalist Charlie decided to take a step away from his heavier background in music to follow a path of more layered melodies and an emotionally charged rock sound. Along this uncertain yet ambitious path he picked up long time friend and guitarist, Fred. To fill in the spaces they made use of part-time members Adam T and Tjokkie.
Now armed with a rhythmic bass line, compelling drums & sweet on the ear vocals, these 2 guys are pioneering in their own sound.
The band themselves cite influences from the likes of Biffy Clyro, who contributed to The Olympic’s interwoven guitar riffs, unusual chord sequences and time changes and Fightstar who contributed with their dark and orchestral features.
The Olympic are a fusion of these elements which makes them a rock-music force not to be reckoned with, but rather one to be embraced and totally lose yourself in.
The Olympic consists of Charlie on vocals and guitar, Fred on guitar. ( Adam T on bass and Tjokkie on the drums)
