The Olympic first single
The Wait: Song description

“The Wait” is written around a relationship, where one person is prone to addiction and the other dealing with the aftermath that the outside influences have on the relationship. We have all dealt with issues in relationships, we have all looked for escapes and all fallen into an addiction of some sort, and we have all been the abuser and the abused.

The whole song is a two sided argument but from one persons point of view. “Lets just lay here and sleep it off, it’s just the weight of the world on our shoulders now” refers to the odds the relationship is up against as the “weight of the world”, it also reference as her to being his world and him carrying her on his shoulders.

Bio

THE OLYMPIC

Hailing from the city of Pretoria indie rockers The Olympic sprung to life in early 2011.
Comprising of Charl Greyling [vocals & guitar], Freddie Botes [lead guitar & backing vocals], Deon Haasbroek [bass] and Adriaan Cruywagen [drums] the foursome recently recorded their 1st single The Wait at Snor City’s Red Room Studios.
Recorded and mixed by Jared Gunston [Chromium] and mastered by famed musician Peach van Pletzen [Yesterday’s Pupil & Bittereinder] The Wait deals with the familiar topic of abuse in the context of a relationship.

Just lay here and sleep it off
It’s just the weight of the world on our shoulders now
So let’s just stay here and figure it out
You know we’ll make it through
Just like we always do

And are you afraid just to say what’s in your heart
And how you fell apart
So bring it back down
Bring it back down tonight
I hear a sound through the stereo
We’re doing all right now
And all we have to do is wait
- The Wait, The Olympic

“We have all searched for escapes and fallen into addiction of some sort. We have all been both the abuser and the abused. The song is a two sided argument” Greyling explains.
