"Easy listen"

"This could easily have been a track from a Thousand Foot Krutch CD. Hard rock, but very easy to listen to. Great production values. Rather than being the focus, or a distraction, the screaming is reserved and tastefully added at appropriate junctions. I was impressed! " - Amiestreet

Bio

The Opposed brings elements from Breaking Benjamin, Tool, Dreamtheater, and references to hardcore/metalcore together, making a fierce, melodic sound that grabs you and doesn't let go. The culmination of years of learning their craft, the five men in The Opposed are true professional musicians, working hard and continuing to be passionate about something they feel called to do, rock faces off with blistering riffs, soaring choruses, and massive breakdowns, leaving all who stand in their wake breathless and wanting more

Hailing from Nashville, TN, The Opposed is the culmination of years of work trying to put together a great band. Brian Volckmann (Guitar) had been playing for 5 years in an acoustic duo called Slow to Speak. After moving to Nashville, Slow to Speak hooked up with Edwin Rivera (drums.) They Played one show with a full band, and then decided that they were in need of something more edgy and heavy. Edwin and Brian hooked up with CJ (bass) who was Edwin's roomate and friend from church. CJ converted from guitar to play bass and they started practicing and honing their sound. It was then that the band decided to name themselves The Opposed. A classified post on Craigslist brought Joey (guitar) to the mix in June of 2007. Joey tried out as the singer, then he showed the guys what he could do on the guitar and everyone was blown away. The decision was made that Joey would stay as the lead guitar and the band began looking again for a new lead singer. Joey's roomate Matt Singleton turned out to be a perfect fit and sang lead for the first time November 3rd, 2007.

Some of the highlights of the band's career include opening for StoneRider (Trustkill Records), Headlining the Resistance tour, Showcasing at the GMA's, They have caught the interest of Producer Peter Wichers (Soilwork,Killswitch engage) as well as Several High profile Licensing opprotunities on the horizon.
