"Leicester Bangs EP Review"

This duo has brought us one really great song here, and 5 remarkable ones. If this is a debut (it has been surprisingly difficult to glean any decent information about them) then they very nearly delivered a classic album at their first attempt. Mark my words: there is evidence enough that these two (young?) chaps will deliver exactly that next time out. - Leicester Bangs

"Colorado Springs Independent"

Not what you've come to expect from a two-piece, The Orchid Riot most definitly serve a thinckened stew of Indie-flavored psychedelic garage pop.

"Man + Water EP Review"

The Orchid Riot is a tight alternative/rock band from Colorado, spanning from ambiance to euro-pop-rock. On their E.P.'s opener, The Scene, it gives the listener plenty of space to get into the voice before being lifted by the simple grooves that come later. Its reminiscent of Jeff Buckley mixed with a sense of My Morning Jacket.

On Grace in Room 101, an infusion of euro-pop flows over a raw indie style. Its an angular song that comes out chaotic and looming. Get Out While You Can! is more straight-forward indie rock in the feel of Franz Ferdinand whereas Mother, Will You Be Okay?, begins like a child's music box. Its quite possibly their best effort. Quiet and ambient - a vivid story!

Bio

The Orchid Riot were bred in totally different towns; or rather, worlds. Sean Woestehoff was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There he was shown nature, arts, and community from the time he was born. Nick Yanez comes from Indio, California. He was, at an early age, exposed to a fast paced, violent, raunchy world. They were then both raised in Monument, Colorado, where small town gossip and local grocery stores reign supreme.

During their endless contemplations of what to do when they "grow up", they decided to write music together. Sean's folk, and roots-like influence combined with Nick's contemporary twists make for a sound not unlike the lives they live; slowely evolving, emotionaly bi-polar, and untterly, utterly confused.

They hope you like their music.
