The Organic Sound Project

It was the Fall of 2006 and the beginning of a new semester at Northeastern University when Freshman Dan Levenstein began playing music with a few new friends. The pleasant Indian Summer afternoon air was filled with delightful melodies drifting from the quad when Dan Batista, a sophomore transfer at NEU, happened to walk by. Never one to pass up an opportunity for a jam session, he picked up a spare guitar the crew had lying around and did what he does best. The sound produced by these mere strangers was intoxicating enough for an administrator walking by to ask them if they could perform on a stage set-up in the student center. After the brief showcase, the musicians went their separate ways, but the two Dans stuck around and swapped contact info. The roots of The Organic Sound Project had been planted. A meaningful friendship evolved between the two, and every time they hung out you could be sure that guitars would be amongst the company. This became a weekly occurrence until Dan Batista met Aidan Rush on a ski trip. After a trip or two, Dan invited him to a party at his place where he was introduced to Dan Levenstein. The three meshed as peers from the start, but once the Dans discovered Aidan played the saxophone, they were eager for a sample. One listen was enough, and they decided that a horn would be a lovely addition to the naturalistic sounds the duo had been creating daily. The three got together to play multiple times a week for almost a year after that, and one night in February decided to get serious. With much quarreling, they finally settled on The Organic Sound Project as a suitable name. They are currently recording a demo and hosting auditions for bass players.
