Check Out "The Origginators" by Bob Johnson
For those of you out there who may think that there aren't any real good original acts anymore, and that the Long Island original music scene has dried up, I urge you to check out Long Island's own "The Origginators ". This six piece roots/soul/r'n'r outfit will get your attention early and keep you entertained all night long. The band has been performing live since 2007 and has compiled an impressive list of originals,covers, and scorching remakes to choose from when filling out the the itinerary for an evening's worth of work. More often than not the band chooses to be the lone act expected to entertain a LI bar crowd, and will do so delivering multiple red hot sets consisting of "Origginals" as well as some non typical rock and soul covers. Led by charismatic singer/guitarist Nick Riggio, the line up is filled with top flight LI musicians who know how to "bring it" when necessary.... but keeping the crowd entertained seems to be the main priority with The Origginators. In other words:no drawn out solos, no "filler" material, and absolutely no BS! This band strives to keep the musicianship set at a very high level while delivering quality material all night long.The rest of the band includes bass ace Joe Faure, Dave "Thunderlips" Rosenblum on sax/keys, Angie Marie Magliocca on vocals/percussion/guitar, Anthony Zammit on guitar and Marco Accomando on Drums/percussion. The band independently released their debut CD simply titled "The Origginators" in 2008 and it has been well received getting local airplay as well as being in regular rotation on internet radio. Featuring radio friendly pop/rock songs like "No one writes letters anymore", "Coulda Been You" along with jazz/blues influenced songs like "Cup of Joe" and "Paradise in Queens" this is a well put together disc that reminds one of the days when bands actually made albums! THE ORIGGINATORS are a 6-piece roots rock n soul band from Long Island, NY who have been thrilling audiences in the Tri-State area for 4+ years with their dynamic live show, and are renowned for their strong songwriting and muscular musicianship as showcased on their full-length release in 2008. The self-titled, independently-produced CD has been successfully marketed at live appearances and through online and local retailers.
Mixing soulful originals with some creative remakes, the band has been performing regularly since early 2007. In both 2008 and 2009 they were semi-finalists in the Good Times Magazine sponsored Long Island Music Festival. THE ORIGGINATORS have also been the headline act since 2008 for the annual Tour de Cure for diabetes held in Riverhead, NY. The band's upcoming CD is soon to be released and currently being mixed by the great Steve Haigler, whose credits include the Pixies and Natalie Merchant among many others. Gigging primarily in the New York / Long Island market, THE ORIGGINATORS have built a loyal fan base and have established themselves as a well-polished, professional live act.
