Bio

The Original Lady Eyes formed several long time neighborhood friends finally into a cohesive project. Dwaine Iler, Matthew Desmarais and Chris Sarros, all former “meemers” were joined by the Mailloux brothers, David and Paul who have always been in the picture, playing in high school garage rock ensembles with band names that changed on a whim – Swallowing Pennies, The Cat’s Pajamas, The Telephones, The Carbohydrates, Half Decent. At 13, Dwaine Iler, the main songwriter and arranger for T.O.L.E. started studying the Mailloux family, who all were very musical – Mr. Mailloux a superb acoustic guitar player, Mrs. Mailloux, an accomplished flutist, and the 3 boys, Tom, Dave and Paul all on Guitar. Iler decided to set aside his baseball card collections, aquariums and veterinary surgery books for a guitar, followed closely, if not simultaneously by Chris Sarros. Matthew Desmarais, not to be the odd man out, started into the world of percussion, with some initial guidance by Iler and Sarros. They became a closed circuit university of music students / teachers all attempting to self educate one another on the ins and outs of playing music. Led Zeppelin albums became textbooks. Beatle LP’s, bibles. Iler through the next years would become hooked on a variety of aspects with respect to music production and recording. He would go onto drums, piano, keyboards, bass guitar, drum machines, multi-track tape recorder machines, the crown gift of his teenage youth, an Apple Macintosh computer that allowed him to be introduced to the world of digital multi-tracking and sampling, becoming fluent by the age of 15. At 17, Iler launched what has now become Reliable Record’s flagship, his solo project / studio baby St. James Something which has become Iler’s mode of communicating his music unfiltered for the purpose of experimentation, the creation of albums and his own edification. SJS’s debut album Falling With The Stars released in 2002, received brilliant reviews from local media outlets which encouraged Iler’s flurry of songwriting – songs that are still being recorded and readying release in the near and distance future. With Iler having such a period of creativity, he wanted to perform some of them in a live medium, but St. James Something material focused on studio based work and was really more of a self exploration and education / experimentation tool. After a perhaps necessary much-cut-short stint as the meems (Dwaine Iler, Matthew Desmarais, Chris Sarros and Sarah Bondy) which provided an initial test-medium for arrangement and lyricism, Iler and Desmarais realized the potential of forging together the band of brothers
