The Original Stone City Band is back and ready to "Fire Up The Funk!" For more than 3 decades, this legendary band provided the sounds heard on recordings by Funk legend Rick James, Teena Marie, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, The Mary Jane Girls, MC Hammer, and Eddie Murphy to name a few. Their sound can be heard on countless recordings and samplings by many of today's Hip Hop artists. On any given day you'll hear a commerical on the radio/TV, or see a television show or movie, and hear that distinctive signature sound of Rick James' Original Stone City Band, with it's pulsating bass lines and irrestible rhythms!
Formed in 1978 by the late "Funk Legend" Rick James, and dubbed "The Stone City Band" this group of musicians served as his recording and touring band from 1979 to the early 90's. They were responsible for cranking out timeless hits like "Fire & Desire", "You & I", "Mary Jane", "Ghetto Life", "Ebony Eyes", "All Night Long", and "Super Freak" in addition to their many other Funk and R&B classics.
The Stone City Band has performed live in venues abroad and in the USA. They've released three albums on the Motown Label entitled "Meet The Stone City Band", In N Out", and "The Boys Are Back".
