THE OSMOS

"The OSMOS was formed like any natural substance – it was a fluid process of improvisation through a strong musical connection. Founding members Brian Pierce, Egon Sung and Sid Tang are also students at OCAD University but they first met in early 2012 at an open jam organized by fellow OCAD musicians. The 3 aforementioned names soon discovered that their chemistry was palpable. They jammed together with different guitarists through the spring but it wasn’t until after they spent most of the summer apart that they found the missing element to complete their musical formula. Ian Wood (who is the brother of fellow OCAD student and THE EFFENS drummer Alex Wood) was the lead guitarist they were looking for. Being that Ian and Brian were homegrown Canadians, while Sid and Egon immigrated here from China, this gave their musical experiments a sustained balance like no other. This unique result was seized by Sid and Egon, who did not have this kind of opportunity available to them back at home.
Now, after only 5 months, they have played 5 shows in the GTA (including OCAD’s Orientation and the Hard Rock Café) and are attracting supporters rapidly. They are continually rehearsing and writing new material with the hopes of exciting new audiences with their spontaneous combustion."
