"Giants to Rock Durban"

"...with supporting acts Cassette, Stealing Love Jones and The Otherwise..."
"The opening act for the Rock On Summer Concert, The Otherwise... well known for
its original blend of indie and disco-punk. Their sound is 'dirty guitars over clean, crisp disco beats' and the tunes are catchy with a positive message." - Tonight Magazine

"Captain Planet is Otherwise Engaged"

"Music with attitude". - Tonight Magazine

"If they where a porno they'd be called "Young, Fast & Tight: Volume 4""

A vibrant indie blast, in the style of The Libertines, but more up-tempo and less
shambolic. If they where a porno they'd be called "Young, Fast & Tight: Volume 4".
They're not though : they're an unsigned band from Durban. Look out for them and their
infectious track "Can I Kiss You". - FHM Magazine

"Who's Hair? Who's There?" - EP - 2008
"She Doesn't Care, She Wants to Dance" - Album - 2010

The Otherwise is a four piece band out of Durban, South Africa. The band consists of brothers Greg Allan (Vocals) and Harry Allan (Guitar) and another set of brothers Christiaan van Renen (Drums) and Carl van Renen (Bass). Drawing influences from Indie, Old School Punk, Rock ‘n Roll, Disco, Dance and Pop, the music is a blend of creative, dirty-sounding guitars and smooth, punchy bass lines over loud disco/punk/rock beats, with Greg's unique voice tying together the mix to create catchy, party-hard, rock-out dance music with attitude.

They released their debut album She Doesn’t Care, She Wants to Dance in July 2010, subsequently securing a national distribution deal with Look and Listen stores. They’re debut single “Can I Kiss You” has been playlisted on campus radio stations all over the country (including TUKSFM, UJFM, MFM and KOVSIE FM) and also made it to Number 1 on Jon Savage’s Local Rock Chart on 5fm. The band has played on some of the biggest stages in the country including Splashy Fen and Thornfest. They’ve performed with such luminaries as Shaun Morgan , Fokofpolisiekar, Van Coke Kartel, Taxi Violence, Aking, Straatligkinders, CrashCarBurn, Stealing Love Jones, Prime Circle, Cassette, Wrestlerish and many more.

They’ve come out swinging in 2011, starting it off with a month long tour of JHB and PTA, playing every conceivable venue as well as Thornfest and more touring is in store for April. They are also playing Splashy Fen again and have secured a slot for the Joburg Burning festival in June. They are also writing and recording tracks for their new album due for release later in the year.
