Biography

The friendship and musical roots of husband and wife duo, Del and Andrea Fisher, goes back some thirty years when they first began to play acoustic guitar together. Twenty years later, they reconnected unexpectedly on a train platform coming home from a Fleetwood Mac concert, reigniting not only their friendship but something much deeper.

In 2011 the pair married and left their home town of Melbourne beginning an indefinite road trip around Australia. Arriving in Denmark in February 2011, the duo found the community embraced them and their music with open arms.

As live performers, The Outback Gypsies’ also come together as a four-piece band performing gigs at larger venues, demonstrating their adaptability and versatility to deliver more up-beat rock sounds including their own funky soul originals as well as keeping alive the music of artists including , Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Tracey Chapman, Fleetwood Mac and Bob Marley.

In January 2012, Del and Andrea released their debut album UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, which includes nine acoustic tracks of original songs, all touching on various aspects of relationship with one reflecting on the challenge of fitting into a materially driven society (Am I An Ant).
The Outback Gypsies poetic and up-beat folk-style music has entertained audiences at many venues in the Southern region of WA, including The Albany Entertainment Centre, Southern End Restaurant, The Albany Hotel, The Black Duck Café, Denmark Hotel, Willoughby Winery, Vancouver Café, The Earl of Spencer and both Royal Perth and Albany Shows.

If you enjoy a combination of warm, emotive vocals accompanied with acoustic guitar as well as more up-beat dance music, this husband and wife musical duo is not to be missed.

Lyrics

Never Knew

Written By: Andrea Fisher

You were a baby of just one day how could they leave you alone
You couldn’t even cry to anyone you never had your mum
Your little heart it was broken before you were even born
I wonder why you came here little one to ride this wild storm

But you never even asked for the fire that would burn
You never understood what you were about to learn

And then one day they came for you
Lifting you up in their arms
From a place that was sad for you
They gave you their love…. Love

Oh god forgive them for they know not what they do
She was a human sacrifice for a childless loving two yeah

And she never knew what was she up for
Never knew the pain she would carry
Human love two people the pain
She never knew

I thank their loving hearts they took me out of the storm
Out of the sea and they loved me
I thank their loving hearts they gave me a new name
Gave me something that I never had

And she never knew what was she up for
Never knew the pain she would carry
Human love two people
She never knew
She never knew
She never knew
She never knew

Home

Written By: Andrea Fisher

I yearn to be on the prairie once more
Amongst the long grass and the wild storms
My hair blowing gently in the wind

I look toward the mountains
The sun is rising
The last quarter moon is sitting low

And I feel the land around me
The land I once roamed
I long for that land
It is my home

I remember the love we shared
The laughter in our hearts
The honoring of each other
My sisters and my brothers
It’s all
It’s all
In my soul

I live beyond the fences
Laid down by white man
Where the earth she breathes and talks to me
She holds my hand
As she whispers

Remember who you are
Let go of who you’re not
Remember who you are
Let go of who you’re not

This is my home
The place god creates
Under gentle blue skies

I live beyond the fences
Laid down by white man
Where the earth she breathes and talks to me
Yeah holding my hand
As she whispers

Remember who you are
Let go of who you’re not
Remember who you are
Let go of who you’re not
Remember who you are
Let go of who you’re not

Let go of who you’re not
Let go of who you’re not
Let go of who you’re not

She's Leaving

Written By: Andrea Fisher

Thank you lord for freeing me from myself
Thank you lord for freeing me from this hell
Thank you lord for freeing me from myself
Thank you lord for freeing me from this hell

Salty tears found their way into her eyes
Drawing her near, drawing her near
To her heart, to her heart
She breaks down in relief
Giving herself some peace
She calls out beyond herself
She says thank you lord for freeing me from my self
From myself

The beauty of her life found its way into another world
She left behind her family and her friends
They wonder where has she gone
Where has she gone

But the believing never stopped
And you can count down the hours on the clock
Right down to her very last breath
She said don’t worry baby I have been blessed
I have been blessed
I must confess
She breaks down in relief
Giving herself some peace
She calls out beyond herself
She says thank you lord for freeing me from my self
She says thank you lord for freeing me from this hell
She says thank you lord for freeing me from this shell
